Emily Sheppard was born in London, Ontario in 1985.  After attending H.B Beal's Special Art Vocational Program and being accepted into Emily Carr's External degree program in Courtenay BC she transferred and graduated from the ECUAD and started working as the Curator at the Fall Tattooing & Artist Gallery and eventually opening her own gallery " Sheppard's Pie Gallery."

This period of time allowed her to establish some inspiring cultural events including shows like the Vancouver UnderGround Fashion Show & the 24 Artist 24 Hours Project.

Sheppard's art work is fueled by a fierce determination to her craft. Whether Curating shows, directing art events, or in her own art practice, there is always an idea brewing. " There are 24 hours in a day.." Emily said when asked, "...and I plan on using as many of them as possible." When asked to describe, Sheppard's current body of work involves non-representational colour theory, through reactionairy mark making. Much of her work deals with similar themese through varying mediums including often, traditional craft methods & practices. Sheppard's goal is to incorporate new materials & provoke unconventional manipulations through these subtle, and sensitive additionas. Whether  in Painting, Printmaking, Sculpting, Sewing, Performance,  Drawing and many others. Her work is always dedicated to investigating the impact of material on the viewer and the history behind its use and traditions.
